The Language
of Health
by Kayla Phillips
When was the last time you took a good look in the
mirror? No, not while doing your hair or checking out
your new outfit. Do you ever take notice of your general
health by looking in the mirror? Are your eyes blood shot and
red? How is your complexion; free of blemishes? How is your
posture? Being observant of the signs and paying attention
to the signals the body displays is one method of assessing
the overall health of the human body. Aches, pains and other
symptoms are simply your body’s way of trying to get your
attention.
The human body has a story to tell and BodyTalk is
one technique that virtually listens to what your body is
communicating. It provides information about healing in
all realms of your physical, emotional, mental and spiritual
life. The human body has an incredible ability to heal itself
and regenerate as long as the body is healthy, balanced and
synchronized.
“Stress is the number one underlying
cause of dis-ease. All types of stress, whether

spiritual, may cause breakdowns in the body’s
already taxed lines of communication. When
the body talks to itself, it can heal itself. Healing
really can be that simple. If our body systems

co-ordinate everything; we heal and
grow. When there is a communication
glitch or breakdown, the body will
adapt, but an imbalance may occur
leading to unhealthy symptoms—
the body’s way of saying it needs
help.” Cherie Carpenter, CBP, BodyTalk

How Does BodyTalk Work?
John Veltheim, in The BodyTalk System, describes
the key elements of how BodyTalk works. On the outer,
extrinsic system of the body, is a protective energy with
an electromagnetic field around the body that Chinese
medicine refers to as Wei. The intrinsic system is the internal
communication that occurs along the connective tissue and
fascia of the body where memory and emotions of the body
are stored. The energy communicates with the brain through
the skull and has major entrance and exit points all over the
body—particularly at joints, and other areas in the body
where the communication flows. The points work in pairs
and are usually on opposite sides and ends of the body. The
BodyTalk system tests the functioning of the circuit breakers
within the human body to look for any malfunction. Stress or
disease can cause a system overload and can blow one of the
